Keyword Search Tips The keyword field searches across categories, sub-categories, styles, names, and looks for any exact mention of the word or phrase you have entered. When entering multiple words in the keyword field, the order and combination of those words is important. The three selection options presented ( All these words, This exact wording or phrase, One or more of these words) govern the searching process. Please select the option that is best suited for your search. Note that articles (such as 'the'), conjunctions (such as 'and' or 'or'), and prepositions (such as 'with') are generally excluded from the search terms. Similarly, punctuation marks (such as '&') are generally excluded from the search terms.

. BOULDER — Six members of the current Beverly Bandits 18U softball club won the 16U title at the Louisville Slugger Boulder Independence Day Tournament two years ago, and that was the spark they needed to go on and with the Premier Girls Fastpitch national championship. In the 18U finals of the Boulder IDT at the Gerald Stazio Softball Fields on Sunday, the Beverly Bandits 18U group was playing to recapture that same magic that spurred their national title in 2013. In dominating performance, the Beverly Bandits defeated the Pennsylvania Chaos Gold by a 7-2 margin to claim their second Boulder IDT title in five years. ( Cliff Grassmick / Staff Photographer) 'Six of us on this team won when we were on the 16U team and that was the first time we had ever won at 16s and we went on to win PGF,' Bandits first baseman Jenny Behan said. 'To win it again this year kind of sets the pace for us when we go to PGF in 18U.' Behind five scoreless innings to start the game from Bandits starting pitcher Miranda Elish, who will play for the University of Oregon following her senior season in 2015, the Bandits scratched out three runs with a run on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly, and a run scored on an error.
In the fifth inning, Behan delivered an important insurance run with a solo home run to left field. Already with a 4-0 lead, Bandits shortstop Michaela Schlattman pushed the Bandits' lead to 7-0 with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. Schlattman finished the game 2 for 3 with four RBIs.
Elish gave up a two-run home run to Chaos five-hole hitter Brigette Nordberg in the bottom of the sixth but the game had already reached the time limit and had essentially been decided by then. Though they were the best team at the end, the Bandits took a while to find their rhythm at this year's Boulder IDT.
They opened pool play with a 6-6 tie with the MO Esprit and a 12-2 loss to the WA Ladyhawks. But the Bandits were victorious in their final four pool play games to win Pool E.
In the elimination semifinals, the Bandits defeated their rival Batbusters to reach the finals. Making Sunday's title even sweeter, the Beverly Bandits 16U club also won its division on Saturday. 'To win it with both programs is outstanding,' said Bandits 18U head coach Bill Conroy, whose club is based on the south side of Chicago. 'We weren't perfect in pool play and we had some work to do and fortunately we got it done. Our pitching and defense was much better and our offense picked up. By the end, the hardest part was trying to figure out which nine to put in the lineup because they were all playing so well.'
The Bandits 18U club also won the Boulder IDT 18U championship in 2007 and 2011.
